Welcome to Knockankelly Farm in Whiting Bay on the beautiful Isle of Arran.  This page is designed to give you a taste of what you can find at Knockankelly Farm.  We have a small traditional livestock farm here, where we breed native Scottish Galloway Cattle and Rare Breed Wensleydale Sheep. From the sheep we produce high quality, exclusive to us, knitting wool, and also a small selection of cuddly warm throws all in natural muted colours that will go with any type of decor.

We also have here, The Summer House, a self-catering cottage, which is a renovated traditional Scottish farm cottage which has been updated to retain all the traditional charm of the cottage, together with the benefits of central heating and double glazing, to keep you warm whenever you come to stay.

The cottage is fully equipped for up to 5 people staying in three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a small single.  We are happy to accommodate your dog - there is an extra charge for this of £10 per week.

The cottage is completely non-smoking for your comfort and enjoyment.

There is a small garden with a patio area for you to relax and enjoy a quiet drink, and plenty of parking at the farm for visitors cars or motorbikes.
We can provide secure storage and cleaning facilities for cycles (and indeed motorbikes) and we can help with cycle routes and walks in the area, as well as throughout the Island.

We can also dry wet clothing and footwear for you, should the unthinkable happen and it rains!

We are situated above and just outside Whiting Bay looking out towards Holy Isle and the Ayrshire coast with walks and cycle paths right  on the doorstep, with access to miles of walking and mountain biking on forest  tracks and trails right from the farm.

Short Breaks are also available for up to 3 nights for 2 or 3 people outside the peak summer season.

Come and stay and enjoy the peace and quiet of the farm surroundings, whilst being within easy walking distance of the centre of Whiting Bay with the beach for the kids, and plenty of places to eat and drink.

Alternatively, come and enjoy an adrenaline packed break with your mountain bike, before retiring to the pub for a pint or two!  See how far you can get without touching a tarmac road - you might be surprised!  Climb a mountain or two, go pony trekking in the beautiful scenery around Sannox.   Try gorge walking or kayaking or if you are a road cyclist, round the Island is the obvious big one, but there are shorter (maybe sharper) routes cutting across the Island - you could do the North End one day, The South End another day and top it all off with the right round the Island one - or maybe just lie on the beach!

If all of that is too strenuous then why not visit Brodick Castle and Gardens, and while you are in the area, call in at Arran Brewery at Cladach - tours are available and there is a shop onsite selling beer and stuff.

If you are in Lochranza and you have developed a taste for tours , try the Distillery, they also have a shop onsite selling whisky and stuff.  There is also a castle at Lochranza - ruined this time, but it is very picturesque.   Just round the corner there is The Sandwich Station, where you can enjoy a coffee and a cake or snack whilst watching the wee boat coming and going to Kintyre - you might even see a dolphin or basking shark - not to mention the red deer.

Come and stay - it will be the break you have been waiting for!
